In April 2010 the iOS 4 for iPhone was announced by Apple Sources. Since that Period a lot of iPhone Owners may have observed that the Apps installed within the iPhone may have prompted to update the App to the Latest Available Version.

Sometimes the Upgraded Version is Good but in Other Circumstances the Upgraded Version of iPhone App does not work well.  The User may be Dis satisfied with the New Version of the Application. He may be thinking of the ways to move towards the previous Version of the Application.

There are some Techniques that may help the iPhone Owners to recover the Old Version of their iPhone App. This is a risky Work and it is advised to have some Knowledge of the Procedure before attempting this Tutorial. We Do Not Persuade a user to attempt this Tutorial. It is on User’s Personal discretion to attempt this Tutorial.

Technique 1:-

Delete App From the Apple Device, Re-Install From iTunes Library

If the iPhone Owner has attempted to update the version of his App through the Apple Device then the process is less complicated.

The Person First Needs to make sure that the Data Associated with the Current Version of the App is no longer required. It is advised not to Sync your device if one has selected the Following Setting in the iTunes Library “Sync all Apps” .

The Next Step is to ensure that the predecessor Version of the App currently installed in the device is available at the Mac’s iTunes Library. It is a mere possibility that the App may not exist in the Mac’s iTunes Library because the person may have attempted to Sync his  device a long while ago. In this Case this Technique is not advised.

Follow the Steps Below if You Have the Predecessor Version of the App within the Mac’s iTunes Library

1-  Without attempting to Sync the Device the App needs to be Deleted from the Device First.

2- Now Plug in Your Device with the Computer

3- Now Open the iTunes Library and install the predecessor Version of the App from Scratch. This will take the prior Version of the App installed in your device.

It is advised to Update all the Apps from the iTunes Library within the Device so that movement to predecessor version of the App is possible in case if it is insuitable for the purpose the user keeps it in his possession.

Technique 2:-

Recover Apple iPhone App From a Time Machine Backup

For this step the User needs an iOS 4 device, a Mac running OS X Snow Leopard, the latest iTunes and the Time Machine on the iTunes enabled.

Before Performing this Technique the User needs to make sure that he no longer requires the backup of his current iOS on the Mac’s iTunes. In addition the User also needs to make sure that he no longer needs the Apps On Device Data Backup on the iTunes.

If the above Step  is not Applicable then User needs to Sync his iOS Device in the Mac with the iTunes. Now set the Time Machine to back up iTunes Library.  It should go without saying that if you’ve configured Time Machine to ignore your iTunes Library, this technique won’t work. A person may back up his iTunes on removable media like CD/DVD Flash Disk Drive etc.

  1. Delete the installed App from your device
  2. Access iTunes on your Mac,  Now on the Option Menu select the App and choose Show In Finder
  3. Open Time Machine and navigate (move) to the folder where the app is stored
  4. Go back in time and find the older (earlier) version of the file
  5. Restore the Earlier Version of Application from the Time Machine in iTunes (Important: keep Finder open, displaying the restored file)
  6. Now Delete the App from the iTunes library on your Mac (NOTE:  Move the file to the Trash)
  7. Quit iTunes on your Mac
  8. From Finder, option click on the restored file and select Open With => iTunes (default)
  9. Reinstall the app to your device via an iTunes sync

The Time Machine would not have the Copy of the Earlier Versions of the App if the App is not transferred to the iTunes from the Device. In addition File will be differently named.

Steps to Keep this Procedure Away:-

It is advised for the iPhone Owners not to Update the version of their Apps without Investigation. A User needs to scrutinize the Facts written on the Author’s Page about the Apps Update in the App’s Store. It is advised only to Update versions of those Apps that are used frequently by the User and that too after assuring that the new version is suitable for the needs of the User.

Warning:-
