Sur Kshetra is an upcoming mega blockbuster singing contest between two rival countries Pakistan and India.
Since the beginning of 2012 we have been hearing the buzz in both electronic and web media regarding the show that aims to serve as a platform for strengthening friendship ties between Pakistan and India.
The show has now entered into its final stage with Top 5 contestants in the Pakistani Team ambitious to bring the title home.
The format of the show comprised of 10 singers each from Pakistan and India passing through a preliminary audition stage, afterwards top 5 singers from each country were selected who are now all set to compete with each other in main gala rounds.
The Top 5 Pakistani Contestants Competing with Indian Counterparts are
1- Nadeem Abbas
Hailing from Lahore Pakistan Nadeem Abbas is a graduate from Government College University Lahore and was the 1st runner up in a singing reality show called “Khiladi Sur Taal Ke” on ATV Pakistan back in 2006.
2- Imran Ali Akhtar
Imran Ali Akhtar belongs to Shahdra Punjab Pakistan.
3- Ameer Ali
Ameer Ali is a known name among underground singing industry of Pakistan. This guy hails from Karachi Pakistan and won a singing contest called “Gao Celebrity Ban Jao” on GEO TV back in 2006.
4- Nabeel Shaukat Ali
Nabeel is an active member of an emerging band from Lahore Pakistan called Opium. He won the “Azme Alishan” National Singing Competition on TV One Global Pakistan back in 2011.
5- Mulazzam Ali
Mulazzam Ali is a trained singer and hails from the province Punjab Pakistan.
Until now a few episodes of the show have been recorded out of which certain had a theme such as Rock Round, Folk Round, Maa (Mother) Round, Qawwali Round etc. The show has not yet featured any big names from Pakistan or India as celebrity Judges but still the show has all the potential to attract audiences across the globe. As we have been hearing at least the voting criteria has not been introduced by now but may be later in the finals stage.
Moreover there is a good news for all Atif Aslam fans as we have been reading a lot on the social media websites regarding the fabulous performances by Pakistani Pop Icon Atif Aslam who is the captain of Pakistani side. According to certain sources Atif Aslam has been at his best and managed to mesmerize everybody on the sets of the show with his soothing and painful voice.

Sur Kshetra Pakistan Auditions Controversy heats up.
The show was supposed to get an airplay on a weekly basis from 10th February 2012. Every thing was sorted out but just a few days before the telecast was scheduled the organizers of the show triggered another controversy due to personals issues.
According to unconfirmed reports due to a clash with the authorities of an Indian TV Channel “Sahara One” the organizers of the show sold ownership rights of the show to another Indian TV Channel “Star Plus”. Certain sources claimed the ownership rights of the show were meant to be sold to Sony TV but the upcoming Indian Youth Singing Contest “Indian Idol 6″ halted the deal.
Now as the final words we have been hearing that the show will go on air on both Sahara One and Star Plus TV channel in India while GEO TV will be playing the show for Pakistani audience.
The anchor of the show is Ayesha Takia a famous Indian Actress who played a lead role in Indian movie “Wanted” along with Salman Khan. The panel of Judges include Abida Parveen from Pakistan, Asha Bhosle from India and Runa Laila from Bangladesh.
The show is expected to go on air somewhere in the end of March 2012 but lets see if the show will be a huge hit like Choote Ustaad in 2010 or just another flop like “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar 2010″.
