The famous company Apple has now gained number 3 spot in ranking of smart phone manufacturers. Almost double growth is noticeable in the recently ended fourth quarter of the company accounts. The iPhone has 14.4 percent of the market share closely reaching second place.

The Accounts depict that  Apple had a annual growth rate of 82%, jumping to 14.4% of the smartphone market in 2009, rising up from 9.1 percent in 2008.

Research in Motion, the makers of  BlackBerry are on Number 2 position with 19.8% of the 2009 market share, climbing up from 15.6% in 2008.

The iPhone is growing quickly, and will soon be seen as second ranked, only lagging behind Nokia, which stands strong with 38.1% in 2009, moving down from 40% in 2008.

Another famous company Motorola owned Motorola’s Droid seems to have assisted Motorola. Motorola has 4.6% of the phone market, going up from 4.1% in 2008. Sales also increased to 2.5 Million, up from 1.6  million in 2008.
